detroit young gun rawaat finally steps up with his debut vinyl release for lobster theremin. having carefully honed an inimitable sound that caresses the left-facing corners of house, techno, ambient and beats, this marks the start of what promises to be a very special year for the mid west talent. rawaats own diy tape imprint, crisis urbana, simultaneously provided the breeding ground and outlet for ideas and a collective mentallity that is beginning to define a new wave of detroit producers, and listening to their discography it is immediately clear where those tape-saturated, cut-and-paste jams found their roots.

drawing from its palette of chicago house, acid, detroit house and techno, this recently in 2014 established berlin based record label dizzy tunes dedicates itself to pure analogue work on vinyl only. dj krime, who has forced people to the dancefloor for 25 years now, gives his debut on his label. being the first release, dizzy001 follows the straight internal line offering four distinctive chicago house tracks of whom one is a remix, this time by none other than chicago legend tyree cooper.

label boss dj bone mans the controls for the 38th release on subject detroit, laying down a typically fierce, three pronged auditory attack. *what he said* tactfully yet forcefully treads the line between house and techno, cherry picking physiognomies from each side of that ever-blurring line and constructing something fresh but bristling with familiar subject detroit elegances. a favourite fixture from bones more recent dj sets, *i do* sees bubbling, arpeggiated chords simmer and swoop from foreground to background loosely as one solitary, remanipulated ticking hat keeps things in formation. watch out for the thunderous, doubled-up drum arrangement that crashes in to the picture out of nowhere! b side track *rhythm soul funk* is a genuine hard hitter and another that tiptoes between the old school and the nouveau.
